Getting Involved with Charlton Triangle Homes
There are many ways in which you can get involved in your local community and we really value your views in shaping, delivering and monitoring our services. Whether you join the board as a company director or simply agree to take part in occasional telephone and text surveys – it’s up to you.
Charlton Triangle Homes support several groups to provide services, activities and events in the local area. These are often free to join and accessible by all age ranges. The three principles underpinning our Community Development approach are:
Work ’with’ and not ‘on’ people
Partnership approach to service delivery
Client led approach to supporting groups and activities
We do not provide activities and events for people to get involved ourselves but we support you, our tenants and residents, to organise activities and events for your local community.
We have adopted a partnership approach in bringing services to our community to ensure a high quality service offer delivered by fully qualified personnel; be it under 5s facilities, sports coaching or aerobics trainers.
We offer support to both groups and individuals who can show us that there is demand for the activity or service they want to deliver. This way we can increase attendance, maximise service use and provide value for money.

Local residents manage and deliver local Community Café at 124A Blaker Court. Residents are also members of our New Leaf Advice Centre board, Community Development Group, New Events Group and Customer Panel
Charlton Athletic Community Trust
We work with Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) to provide all-round sports coaching, including football training, through term time and during the summer holidays as part of our summer programme.
Blackheath Rugby Club
We have developed a strong working partnership with Blackheath Rugby Club who provide a tag rugby programme as part of our 5-week summer programme as well as access to their grounds and facilities for use by local groups.
Charlton Kids Club
Charlton Kids Club is provided by local tenants and residents. It offers a comprehensive array of services for working parents including an after-school club, a breakfast club, tuition clubs during term time and a paid holiday club throughout the holidays.
Our summer programme is a good example of a client-led approach, as all the children and young people are consulted about the events and activities that they would like to take part in during the summer break.
Charlton Family Centre
Charlton Family Centre is managed and run by the Greenwich Pre-School Learning Alliance (GPLA) and offers quality support and education for the under 5s and their families. As well as an expansive offer during term time, the centre works with other partners and agencies to deliver outside classes and projects, runs a 3-week summer programme and encourages parents and carers to get involved in the local community as well as their child’s education.
Springfield Creche is also run and managed by the Greenwich Pre-School Learning Alliance (GPLA) and offers both morning and afternoon crèche facilities for the local area. Located in the same building as Charlton Triangle Homes IT centre, parents and carers can drop their children off and make use of the IT facilities to pursue courses, find out local information or carry out job searches on site as required.
50 Plus Group
The 50 Plus Group offers the opportunity for friendship, support and assistance with maintaining a fun and healthy lifestyle for anyone over the age of 50. Monthly meetings ensure that the group’s direction and activity planning is steered by the membership providing something for everyone.
The Lunch Club occurs once a quarter and is subsidised by Charlton Triangle Homes. The event provides a great opportunity to discuss the group, its activities and review past trips and outings over a relaxing meal.
The 50 Plus group decide, organise and take part in 5-day trips throughout the year. The destination and kind of activity is decided by the group and has included trips to the coast, stately homes and castles as well as other places of specific interest.
The Aerobics class meets twice a week and is available for anyone in the 50 Plus group. This valuable class is specifically designed to help you maintain agility whatever your age and provides a strong healthy environment to exercise and socialise with other members and friends.
Christmas Dinner Party
The 50 Plus group celebrate the end of the year with a Christmas Dinner Party which has been held at Charlton House for the last two years. Subsidised by Charlton Triangle Homes, the evening offers a 3-course meal, music and dancing for all.
New Events Group
Charlton Triangle Homes supported and assisted the New Events Group in hosting a ‘Taster Day’ with the aim of helping local community groups create a platform to encourage membership and offer opportunities for people to have a go at the various activities each group offers. This biannual event also gives the community an opportunity to get together and celebrate its diversity through food, clothing and music.
Christmas Carol ConcertIn partnership with the local St Luke church, Charlton House and two local primary schools, the Christmas Carol concert has become a regular and growing feature in the Charlton Triangle Homes community calendar. Young and old meet to celebrate Christmas, sing carols and share in refreshments afterwards.
